Humanitarian project Diagnosis of scoliosis”

State educational institution “Sanatorium boarding school No. 9 in Minsk for children with diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue”

1. Name of the project "Diagnosis of scoliosis without X-ray"

2. Project implementation period: 2022-2025

3 Applicant organization proposing the project: State educational institution "Sanatorium boarding school No. 9 in Minsk for children with diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue”

4. Goals of the project: timely diagnosis of posture disorders and spinal deformities of school children.

5. Tasks planned for implementation within the framework of the project:

- an objective and reliable assessment of the clinical status of patients (initial and in dynamics);

- formation of positive motivation of students for physical education methods of rehabilitation;

- organization of training of the personnel involved in the project;

- development of facilities, strengthening of the material and technical base necessary for support the work to provide quality services;

- exchange of best practices;

- summarizing and presenting the results of the project activities.

6. Target group:

children aged 6-16 years old living in Minsk, who are enrolled by the city board for a period of one academic year for mastering the complex of conservative treatment of patients with spinal deformities, their legal representatives.

7. Relevance of the project: Scoliosis remains one of the most studied and mysterious pathologies in modern orthopaedics. It is based on a disorder of the metabolism and formation of connective tissue in combination with a breakdown of the directive (control) systems of the mechanism of physiological growth and development of a person. The disease has a direct genetic nature and is unique to humans as species. This disease affects about 5% of the world's population. From an orthopaedic point of view, scoliosis is characterized by a leading symptom complex, which is represented by the development of a specific spinal deformity by the type of twisting, involving the chest, abdominal cavity, internal somatic organs and the spinal cord in the pathological deformation process. The purpose of scoliosis, through the deformation of the spine, is to destroy human health, causing severe physical and moral suffering. To equip the medical office of the department for rendering medical care in the sanatorium boarding school No. 9 in Minsk, in order to objectify the data of the clinical examination of patients by orthopaedic doctors, it is necessary to purchase an optical topograph to determine spinal deformities.

The topograph will allow carrying out the diagnostics of postural disorders and spinal deformities for dynamic control (monitoring the state of boarding school children), to monitor the results of activities to correct posture disorders and the results of treatment of spinal deformities.

The list of students of the sanatorium boarding school No. 9 in Minsk changes annually. The occupancy is 12 sanatorium groups of 20 people.

8. Brief description of the activities within the project:

- creation of a databank of the target group, examination and informing the target group about the implementation of the project;

- carrying out the work to prepare children for the first examination;

- formation of positive motivation for an absolutely harmless diagnostic method;

- familiarization of children with the standard postures of the patient during the examination;

- compiling a list of patients for examination;

- carrying out computer optical topography, processing the results;

- statistical analysis of topographic parameters;

- monitoring the state of the relief of the surface of the boarding school patients’ bodies;

- evaluation of the effectiveness of conservative treatment;

- provision of information and advisory support to project participants working with the target group;

- purchase of the equipment for the provision of quality services (optical topograph for determining spinal deformities);

- coverage of the project activities in the media, on Internet resources - on the website of the boarding school and in social networks;

- production of printed materials, leaflets, booklets, memos, building up the methodological library for working with the target group.
